Demo videos of your favorite (or future favorite) Eurorack synth modules.

I plan on making short, 5-minute-or-so videos of the modules in flattering, illustrative, very simple patches that will allow the viewer to get his or her mind around what some of these delicious toys actually do.

Probable first up: the Sound of Shadows voltage-controllable delay by Flight of Harmony. Even the feedback is CVable on this dirty bitch…it’s really a must have, considering the price and function density (it even includes a spare cheap-but-usable VCA) in a mere 12hp package. Loving mine.

Other potential victims: the Malekko/Wiard stuff, 4ms Rotating Clock Divider, and MakeNoise Maths.

I don’t claim to be any kind of expert on synthesis, and in fact some modules like the Maths are a little intimidating on some levels even after months of use. However, most modular synth videos, my own included, usually deal with “look at my bitchin’ complex patch,” rather than “what does this module do.” I will fill your need, at least until I run out of modules.

After the mind-melting rush of finishing off two new websites in the past couple weeks, as well as finally getting my mind around the usefulness and information overload of the Twitter phenomenon, I’m finding myself totally burnt out. Too many 5-hour nights’ sleep, I guess. So suddenly I have this blog and nothing to say.

I have to say I’m a little unclear about how this site should even go. There’s so much interesting information out there, in so many genres that are of interest to me, that it’s hard to know where to begin. Should there be some really narrow focus, or should it be all over the map? Is someone who’s coming here to watch synth videos going to get pissed off when I blog about political douchebaggery? Can I generate my own content quickly enough to avoid making Subsonorous into some boring re-blogging nightmare?

Add to this that my mind is molten from web design and sleep deprivation, and that I’ve never actually blogged before – I have to say, there’s something awfully “I have to finish this paper for class tomorrow!” about it – and it’s looking a lot like a disaster right off the bat!

These are all pretty big questions I have about running this joint. Thankfully there aren’t enough people watching yet that it matters all that much. So if you’re one of the few, both thanks and sorry. Soon it’ll make sense, maybe.

This blog will cover all manner of different subjects and media, some gathered from around the web, some generated by myself and my friends, some written out with no adornments. I’m a little new to the blogging game, so hang in there, I’m sure I’ll improve. This site, and another one I built right before it, have beaten me down to the edge of brain failure. Hope you find it satisfactory, and I promise it will do and contain more soon.
